Working with Boxy Charm

  • The best way to get in touch with Boxy Charm? Knock at Joy’s door. No, seriously, tag them, they’ll see that. Send a DM on Instagram. Send emails. Hyperlink your IG, don’t just give your handle.

  • Joy mostly does paid partnerships. She plays around with a budget and finds those creators to work on product-driven content. Another team works with seeding and gifted programs. Another team works with content creation for advertising with influencers as creatives.

  • Joy is always scrolling, creator discovery is her favorite part of the job.

  • What can creators do to stand out to Boxy Charm: the most important thing is a genuine use of the products in the box, and sharing the deals with your followers. If you’re someone who doesn’t talk or pitch products, it might not be the right fit for Boxy Charm collabs. However, Boxy Charm is happy to send boxes to anyone, you don’t have to post about it.

  • IG reels and TikTok = number one content for Boxy Charm right now.

  • Boxy Charm’s goal = Drive website traffic (to generate subscriptions) (good for reels).

Joy’s best practices for creators

  • As a creator, your job is to build a community. Your engagement and your content are key, as they show how genuine your audience is, and how much they look up to you for product knowledge.

  • Being a real fan and putting out amazing content is a great way to get on a brand’s radar.

  • Try to get on a brand’s radar early on — brands are already thinking about the Holiday season, even though we’re in July.

  • Relationships are everything. Build a great reputation, show how passionate you are, be confident.

  • Don’t copy-paste the email you get when you ask Google “how to email a brand for free products”: anyone that works in beauty marketing got this email! Make your outreach personable.

  • A great way to farm a relationship with a brand? Sometimes, brands have no idea what creators liked working on. After a collaboration, paid or unpaid, be vocal about it, “I loved working on that with you.” Share some stats that you have.

  • What makes a creator good to work with? When they see the person, not just the brand. Being genuine and kind with the brand goes a long way, a quick thank you email after a collab takes 2 minutes. Just being human will make you stick out. Be flexible, brands don’t forget who acted as divas. Be kind, brands will re-sign you.
